<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>On one side, recruiters are more likely to find you if your social profile is up to date and includes key search terms within your industry.  You also have more chance of finding a job through one of your connections when they know you are looking, and you are likely to be able to stay in touch with many more connections from the past via social media sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>On the other hand, if you are not careful with your security settings there is the chance of a potential employer seeing your embarrassing photos or that public slanging match you had with your ex best friend.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Social media is a useful career tool – but depending on your choice of career, sometimes it’s better to keep your personal and professional profiles separate.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>While once upon a time before the internet, when correspondence was carried out by post, everyone put their address on their CV as standard.  Recently however, with email taking over as the main method of communication (other than the telephone), we have noticed that less and less people are including their full address, with some stating just their home town or county and others failing to list a location completely.</p>
<p>If you are looking for a position within a commutable distance from your home it would be wise to give an indication as to where you are located but what if you are prepared to relocate for a role?  Perhaps then listing your address could understandably limit you to roles within that area unless you have expressed in your cover letter that you are prepared / looking to relocate.  However, does not listing your location automatically mean you are happy to <a title="Job Market Trends: Relocation" href="http://wp.me/p1GV9t-1n">relocate</a>?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Our recent research on finance adverts vs. population of geographical areas throughout the UK, showed that there may be a shortage of roles available in certain areas but a shortage of workers available in others.</p>
<p>One of the trends we have seen increasing over recent years, especially in the contract and interim market, is relocation during the week.  So what are the benefits?  Well, firstly if you are living in a remote but beautiful part of the country you still get to enjoy this at weekends but during the week you can benefit from the financial rewards available in another part of the country.  For some this is a worthwhile compromise with options including staying in budget hotels or leasing a property nearby.</p>
<p>With Europe only a short train journey or budget flight away relocating during the week needn’t be limited to the UK.</p>
<p>The alternative option could be relocating on a permanent basis but could mean compromising between where you would like to live and where you are able to find work.</p>

<p>Our <a title="CMC Consulting St Albans" href="http://www.cmcconsulting.co.uk/stalbans/" target="_blank">St Albans office</a> were very excited last week to receive the Hertfordshire Business Award for Recruitment.</p>
<p>The award was presented by St Albans City &amp; District Deputy Mayor, Councillor Geoff Harrison and Jackie Towndrow of Blue Arrow, who sponsored the award.</p>
<p>Chris McCusker, our Managing Director, was proud to accept the award along with members from our St Albans office.</p>
<p>CMC Consulting was founded in Hertfordshire over 20 years ago now by a small team of qualified accountants and experienced finance professionals and since then we have continued to expand, applying our proactive recruitment techniques on a nationwide level.</p>
<p>It means a lot to us, as a business that was founded in Hertfordshire, to be recognised by the Hertfordshire Business Awards for our successes and our commitment to both our clients and candidates.  We are delighted and extremely proud to receive the Recruitment Award.</p>

<p>But what is the difference between a recruitment consultancy and a recruitment agency?</p>
<p>A financial recruitment agency would deal in the majority with temporary assignments for short term roles.  Recruitment agencies generally look for someone to fill a role as quickly as possible.</p>
<p>The role of a recruitment consultant whether on a <a href="http://www.cmcconsulting.co.uk/temporarycontractinterim/">temporary, contract</a> or permanent assignment is to work with the hiring company to find someone with the right skills, experience and personality to succeed within the company.  Recruitment consultancies try to match the needs of clients and candidates to ensure a mutual fit by understanding the business, the culture and the candidate’s career goals and personal situation.</p>
<p>There may be some recruitment agencies working consultatively and some consultancies who behave like an agency but on the whole a consultative approach differs to an agency one within the recruitment market.</p>
